There are hundreds of different health insurance plans, each with rules and regulations specific to the plan. As your healthcare provider, Oakdale Obstetrics and Gynecology, P.A. is obligated to follow those regulations in how we report services provided to you. With the great complexity of healthcare insurance coverage, we rely on you to be aware of what your health insurance does and doesn't cover. Here are facts to be aware of in understanding your insurance coverage:

We file claims to all insurance companies. However, if Oakdale OB/GYN is not contracted with that insurance, you will be responsible for any unpaid balance that is considered out of network.

Co-payments and Deductibles: Co-pays and deductibles are always determined by your insurance plan.

Referrals: Many insurance plans may not pay for procedures or visits that are recommended or ordered by your healthcare provider. On occasion, a provider may recommend treatment by another provider outside of our clinic. If your health insurance plan requires a referral, please be aware that, since our clinic is not considered a primary care clinic, but a specialty clinic, we are unable to provide a medical referral. Only your primary care clinic can provide medical referrals. Please be sure that you are familiar with what your insurance plan does and does not cover and when referrals are required. If referrals are required, always secure your referral prior to scheduling specialty procedures. This will prevent any unexpected delays in payment or denial of services.

Coding for Services: All healthcare providers bill services using billing codes. These codes tell the insurance company what was done and why. Routine and preventive services cause confusion for many patients. It is not uncommon for patients in the course of a visit to receive both treatment for a problem and a preventive service. When this occurs, we are required to charge for both services.

Lab Services: The majority of our lab services are processed and billed by a reference lab. The reference labs used are not owned by Oakdale Obstetrics/Gynecology, P.A. Therefore, for all lab tests sent to our reference lab, and for all pathology/cytology tests, you will receive a separate bill for lab services from the reference lab.

CLINIC CREDIT POLICY

  • All monthly statements are due and payable upon receipt. Please do not ignore these statements or letters, they are notification to you that there is still a balance owing on your account. Patient accounts with a balance over 30 days are considered past due and the collection process will begin. If you feel you are not responsible for a balance on your account, please contact our business office so we may assist you in getting your claim paid.
  • Patients with no insurance or insurance coverage that cannot be verified are required to pay $200 at the beginning of each clinic appointment and the balance will be charged and payable at the end of the visit. Surgical procedures will need to be prepaid. Co-pay amounts as identified on your insurance card must be paid to the front desk staff at the time of your appointment
  • Patients with a commercial insurance plan with which Oakdale does not have a contract, will pay for services in full as billed and are required to make a $100 prepayment to be applied to their charges at the clinic visit. For any surgical procedures performed, 20% of the estimated charges are due prior to surgery.

Missed Appointment Charge

If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, please call to inform us prior to the visit at 763-587-7000.  We request notification as soon as you know that you will not be able to keep the appointment so that we can open that reserved time for other patients in need. 

Due to the high cost of missed appointments, you will be charged a $75 appointment fee for appointments that are made and not attended, for which we did not receive prior notice of cancellation.
