Diagnostic Hysteroscopy

Oakdale Ob/Gyn doctors perform several minimally invasive, same day in-office procedures. One such in-office procedure uses a thin, lighted telescope called a hysteroscope.

A hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to look inside your uterus. A hysteroscopy can be used to either diagnose problems inside the uterus or for treatment, such as in surgery. The hysteroscope is put into the vagina to examine the cervix and the inside of the uterus to allow our doctors to better understand, diagnose and treat your condition.

 What is diagnostic hysteroscopy?

At Oakdale Ob/Gyn, our doctors use diagnostic hysteroscopy to better determine the causes of conditions that include irregular or abnormal bleeding, a displaced IUD (intrauterine device), infertility, or abnormal growths. This innovative tool allows the doctor the ability to see and work with little or no discomfort to you.

Sometime, our doctors will use the hysteroscope to take a biopsy of the uterus at the same time and send it to pathology for a specific diagnosis of uterine bleeding.
