Infertility

It’s estimated that one in 6 couples will have problems conceiving a child. If problems continue after months of contraceptive-free sexual intercourse, infertility in one or both partners may be the cause.

The causes of infertility are wide-ranging and can include genetic factors, pre-existing health conditions such as diabetes or obesity, age - even environmental exposures. Sometimes, the cause is never known.

Evaluation and diagnosis

Understanding why a couple cannot conceive starts with a correct diagnosis. Once the cause of the problem is better known, an appropriate infertility treatment plan can be recommended.

At Oakdale Obstetrics and Gynecology, we offer a full continuum of services for infertility evaluation and treatment. The first step on the path to parenthood is an infertility evaluation by one of our doctors or nurse practitioners. We review your medical records, evaluate you and your partner’s history, test results and any completed fertility treatments. We may recommend additional tests to pinpoint potential causes.

While a seemingly daunting task, many patients are empowered after an evaluation. After your infertility evaluation, Oakdale Obstetrics and Gynecology doctors and nurse practitioners will answer your questions and a propose treatment plan for your particular diagnosis.

Infertility treatment

The good news is that many patients with an infertility diagnosis can be treated successfully without the need for in vitro fertilization. We work closely with you to use a treatment or a combination of infertility treatments that are best for you and your partner.
