Vaccines & Immunizations

Vaccines are recommended for all adults to protect them from infectious diseases.  Vaccination is acknowledged to be one of the most cost effective public health strategies available in preventing infectious and communicable infections.  Many adults are taking a proactive role in their healthcare these days by eating better and exercising, but forego one of the simplest preventative care measures available, adult vaccinations.

On average 50,000 adult Americans die from vaccine-preventable diseases and from complication of influenza, pneumococcal infections, and hepatitis B each year.  These diseases and others can be prevented by vaccines and are very effective, but underused.  Some adults incorrectly assume that the vaccines they received as children will protect them for the rest of their lives.? This is true for certain diseases, however vaccinations for certain disease must be repeated periodically to maintain immunity.

The following list comprises the diseases we vaccinate against at Oakdale Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Please click on them for more information about each vaccine as outline by the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
