About Brianna Hoffman, APRN, CNM, WHNP-BC

After graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I always knew that I would go on to pursue a post-graduate degree in advanced practice nursing—I just wasn’t sure which field of study would call to me.

The answer to my inquisition presented when I sought care for my first pregnancy with a Certified Nurse Midwife. Her philosophy of care was such that she imparted upon me feelings of reassurance; that women were made to have healthy, normal pregnancies and that our bodies were well equipped for, and know how to, bear children. This was so important for me as a first-time mom encountering the unknowns of a first pregnancy. I felt supported, listened to, and empowered to make educated decisions about myself and my baby. My prenatal experience with her set the stage for my interest in Nurse Midwifery. However, the moment that I heard my baby cry in the birthing room and saw my son being handed to me, I had a revelation– this person gets to do the most amazing job on earth and share in this miraculous experience with women and their families on a daily basis! At that moment I knew that I needed to return to school to become a midwife. One month later, I applied to Georgetown University’s Nurse Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner program and only fell deeper in love with the profession as my schooling progressed.

Serving women has been a life-long passion of mine, providing excellent, evidence-based care to women from adolescence through menopause. My professional goal is to form partnerships with my patients that last a lifetime, as I share in and help support women through the many life changes they experience. I am extremely invested in women’s health and I enjoy empowering women and involving them as integral components of their care. As a nurse I worked in surgical gynecology as well as urogynecology. These experiences were highly influential in my attaining a higher level of education in Women’s Health. Following, I chose to additionally obtain a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner degree, so that I would be well equipped to serve women in a variety of areas. I have special interests in contraceptive counseling, preventive health education, normal physiologic labor and birth, and pelvic floor concerns.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and our children. We like being active and engage in many outdoor activities as a family. We especially love the Minnesota summers and try and spend as much time as possible at the lake!
