About Christine Sarkinen, MD
When I was waiting to get accepted to medical school I remember telling everyone that my first biggest fear is that I wouldn’t be accepted and my second biggest fear is that I WOULD be accepted. Little did I realize at the time was that this reality would lead to my greatest adventures ever.
Anybody that knows me today knows that I think I am the luckiest person ever. I adore my job, my career, my life’s work, more than imaginable. Becoming an obstetrician/gynecologist is a perfect fit for my personality. With my wide-ranging interests and hobbies, it enables me to strike an instant rapport with patients. Patients invite me into their lives and allow me to be an influential person in their decisions. I enjoy forming relationships that encourage patients to make healthy choices and to be involved in their own health care decisions. Whenever I see my patients I enjoy catching up on life as much as I enjoy the medical part, the listening, educating, advising and laughing.
Having started with Oakdale ObGyn right after finishing my training has also been instrumental in my ability to positively impact women’s lives. This is a group that has always been committed to providing the highest quality, progressive care to our patients. We have been in the northwest metro for more than 60 years and have an outstanding group of doctors, nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners who are seeking to be your partner in care.
When I am not at work, my attention is captured by my family. I have a wonderfully supportive husband and two children. As a family we love to spend time outside with our dogs, our families and our friends, traveling and simply being together. In the summer we love to swim, bike, and play in the woods. We enjoy time at the lake with family, fishing, and boating. In the winter we enjoy being out in the snow like only a true Minnesotan can. We love to pack up the dogs for a road trip to ski in the mountains of Colorado. We also like to take advantage of a particularly cold day and simply hang out together, working on home projects.
Every day reminds me how precious time is, so whether a day at work or a day at play I approach either with humor and adventure.
