Oakdale ObGyn is committed to supporting you through life’s transitions, including pregnancy. Your lifestyle can have profound effects on your health and the health of your baby. Our registered dietician will help you to establish an approach to nutrition and wellness that will support your growing baby.

Your First Pregnancy

If this is your first pregnancy, you may have a lot of questions:

  • Which foods are healthiest for my developing baby?
  • Which supplements are best for pregnancy?
  • Which foods should I avoid to keep my baby safe?
  • How do I navigate nausea, fatigue, and other pregnancy-related concerns?
  • How do I navigate the pregnancy weight gain?

As you prepare for the arrival of your baby, your questions will likely shift toward:

  • How do I shop and prepare easy, quick meals that will give me energy?
  • Which foods should I consume for optimal breastfeeding?
  • When and how do I start to get my body back to pre-pregnancy?

Your Second Pregnancy

If this is your second (or third, fourth or more) pregnancy, your focus is undoubtedly multifaceted. With my second pregnancy, I became keenly aware of the need to apply my nutrition training to real life – as a working mother of a toddler and baby on the way. And as the nutritional gatekeeper for your expanding family, you have the biggest impact on your children’s health today and for the years ahead.

Key considerations include:

  • How do I maximize our family nutrition for optimal growth and development?
  • How do I develop an easy rhythm to shopping, cooking and enjoying family meals?
  • How do I make healthy foods fun and enjoyable for my children?
  • How do I navigate foods provided to my children in social and schools settings?
  • As a role model, how do I balance my personal health goals with my family’s needs?
